Cordless Drills are wonderful tools. Almost everybody from professionals to home improvement DIY hobbyists use them. When this tool stops working it's a nightmare because the work is interrupted. And oftentimes the problem is that the batteries are no good anymore.
My drill comparison showed many drills are now listed as drill drivers instead of just a cordless drill. Cordless drivers have a clutch. The clutch controls the amount of torque applied. When the preset resistance has been reached It disengages the drill driver's drive shaft making a clicking sound. By setting the clutch correctly you won't strip a screw or overdrive it once it's snug. So its important to pay attention to the clutch settings so you are able to take advantage of clutch and not strip the screws. Tesla is developing a lower cost $50,000+ model S sedan expected to be released in 2012.
Okay, so we know we'd be sunk without our laptops and cell phones. But what about the car? Cars have batteries too. Perhaps you ride a Harley Davidson - not without a motorcycle battery! It's interesting to think where we'd be if the afore-mentioned "zapping episode" took place. We know that our forefathers coped without batteries but could we?

The battery will re-charge a little if placed on a hot surface, like a radiator. Never place a mobile phone battery on a hot surface! There is a significant chance of explosion with extreme heat. A modern Lithium mines Ontario battery becomes less efficient the warmer it gets.
Memory effect will reduce the life of a battery. Modern Lithium-ion batteries do not suffer from memory effect, although it does occur in Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) units when charged from levels other than 0% of battery capacity. If the (NiMH) unit was fully charged when initially at say 20% capacity, the resulting available capacity would only be 80% of the factory original. Of course every time you charged the battery, the total available capacity would reduce and eventually your mobile phone would prove to be increasingly useless. Nearly all new electronic devices are now powered by Lithium batteries. You should always condition your (NiMH) battery from new.
And that's about it; not so hard, right? So, although lithium ion batteries might keep us on our toes, utilizing these few simple practices will help you keep your batteries performing at their peak for a whole lot longer. Respect your stuff and in return you'll enjoy really great results.
